Lukoil CEO says possible US sanctions not to split Russia

MOSCOW, Feb 9 (PRIME) -- The U.S. will not be able to sow discord in Russia with its sanctions, Vagit Alekperov, CEO of Russian oil major Lukoil, told reporters on Friday.

“I don’t fully understand the target of the Kremlin Report, but it is difficult to sow discord because we all work together actively,” he said.

When asked about whether these possible sanctions bear some personal risk, he said, “Well, they are significant, because we work at the global market.”

On January 30, the U.S. listed 114 politicians, including the entire Kremlin administration, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev and all Russian ministers, 96 businessmen and firms with an annual income of over U.S. $2 billion for possible sanctions. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin told the Congress said that new sanctions against Russia were to be introduced soon.
